The Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office in West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) is Pushing for The Export of North Lombok's Flagship Agricultural Commodities

The Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office in West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) is actively working to boost the export of North Lombok Regency's flagship agricultural commodities, aiming to enhance regional economic growth. BI NTB Representative Head, Berry Arifsyah Harahap, highlighted efforts to connect farmers in North Lombok with international buyers for key commodities like coconut and cashew during an audience with North Lombok Regent H Djohan Sjamsu. This initiative aims to harness the considerable potential of North Lombok in increasing exports, particularly from the agricultural sector, thereby supporting regional economic resilience. The export of these key commodities not only aids in controlling national inflation but also contributes significantly to local economic growth. Collaborating with the North Lombok Regency Government is a strategic step to achieve this goal, directly impacting the welfare of the community and fostering robust economic growth for NTB.

Berry emphasized that their cooperation with the North Lombok Regency extends beyond exports, including joint efforts to enhance food security by boosting rice productivity in the region. BI NTB provides facilitation not only for production improvement but also institutional support, ensuring added value and favorable prices for farmers. Furthermore, Berry was informed about an investment forum scheduled for July-August 2024, covering Bali and Nusa Tenggara. During this event, BI NTB will present NTB's commodities to potential investors, further promoting economic development in the region. North Lombok Regent H Djohan Sjamsu expressed appreciation for the collaboration with BI NTB, acknowledging their efforts to develop the local agricultural sector. He highlighted the importance of maximizing the export potential of regional commodities like cashew, chocolate, vanilla, and coconut, intending to increase production to meet market demands. Djohan also expressed the hope that such initiatives would contribute to controlling inflation in NTB, aligning with the shared goal of sustainable economic growth.
