The Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Office of South Kalimantan Province exported 78.3 cubic meters of plywood worth IDR 814 million to the Philippines. The head of the South Kalimantan Quarantine, Sudirman, stated that quarantine officials undertook rigorous physical inspections and documentation requirements for the exported plywood. He emphasized the meticulous examination of each plywood unit to ensure a smooth export process and the acceptance of the goods in the Philippines. Plywood stands out as one of Indonesia's flagship export products, particularly from South Kalimantan. Sudirman highlighted the significant demand for plywood across various industries, ranging from construction to furniture manufacturing.As the need for construction materials rises, there has been a substantial increase in market demand for plywood. Sudirman affirmed the readiness of the South Kalimantan Quarantine officials to facilitate the export of plywood and other commodities.
This involves a comprehensive quarantine process to ensure compliance with all sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPM) required by the destination country. Meanwhile, Aspul Anwar, a South Kalimantan Quarantine official responsible for plywood quarantine measures, explained that exporters must fulfill all documentation requirements specified by the destination country. This includes adherence to the specified cargo volume and commodity types intended for export. Anwar revealed that plywood shipments must be free from plant pests/quarantine plant pests (OPT/OPTK), such as insects. Following a series of physical inspections on the plywood, the commodity was declared free from OPT/OPTK. Consequently, a phytosanitary certificate was issued, providing assurance that the exported product meets all required standards. The successful export of plywood underscores the commitment of South Kalimantan's Quarantine Office to uphold international standards and facilitate the smooth flow of trade while ensuring compliance with the necessary regulations.
