Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Records Aceh's Exports Reaching USD 609.3 Million in 2023

Aceh Province's export value for 2023 recorded a notable decline, totaling USD 609.3 million, marking an 18.30% decrease from the previous year's USD 745.8 million. Key commodities driving these figures included coal (USD 338.58 million), coffee and spices (USD 98.07 million), and vegetable oil (USD 43.88 million). In the broader context of January-December 2023, non-oil and gas commodities dominated exports, reaching USD 566.9 million, while oil and gas commodities contributed USD 42.3 million. Fuel minerals, particularly fossil fuels like coal, petroleum, and natural gas, stood out with a substantial value of USD 380.9 million. Other significant sectors included coffee and spices (USD 98 million), vegetable oil (USD 43.8 million), various chemical products (USD 19.31 million), and processed fish (USD 18.2 million). Analyzing export sources, mining activities took the lead, contributing USD 381.7 million, followed by agricultural exports (USD 117.5 million) and manufacturing exports (USD 110 million).


Throughout January-December 2023, India emerged as the top export destination, accounting for USD 384.8 million, followed by Thailand (USD 67.7 million), the United States (USD 62.6 million), Japan (USD 21.2 million), and China (USD 14.8 million). In December 2023 alone, Aceh's exports surged to USD 42.39 million, indicating a significant 76.31% increase from the previous month. The majority of exports were facilitated through Aceh's ports (USD 31.16 million), with non-Aceh ports contributing USD 11.23 million, primarily through North Sumatra (USD 11.09 million). Statistically, mining-related commodities dominated December 2023 exports, constituting 71.03%, followed by agricultural exports at 20.93% and manufacturing exports at 8.03%. Key commodities in December included coal (USD 19.57 million), condensate (USD 10.54 million), and coffee (USD 7.53 million). India retained its position as the primary recipient in December 2023, with USD 20.01 million, driven by coal. Thailand followed at USD 12.25 million, predominantly importing condensate, and the United States at USD 5.49 million, with a focus on coffee imports.
