Manufactured Product Exports Reach USD 171.23 Billion in January-November 2023

The manufacturing industry consistently maintains its position as the leading contributor to Indonesia's export achievements. From January to November, manufactured products continued to dominate, registering a substantial value of over USD 171.23 billion. Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasmita, expressed satisfaction with the well-managed growth of the manufacturing industry, emphasizing its continuous improvement. Speaking in Jakarta on Monday (15/1/24), he underscored the need for collective focus and attention on the sector's future endeavors. In the face of global geo-economic and geopolitical challenges, the Ministry of Industry remains committed to enhancing the performance of the manufacturing industry in 2024. Historically, the manufacturing sector has been the backbone supporting the national economic growth. Minister Agus highlighted the pivotal role of the national manufacturing industry, evident in its significant contribution to the national GDP, reaching 16.83% in the third quarter of 2023. During the same period, manufacturing industry growth surpassed the national economic growth, recording 5.02%, compared to the national figure of 4.94%.

Notably, safeguardglobal.com's report positions Indonesia among the top 10 global contributors to manufactured products, making it the sole ASEAN country in this esteemed list. The publication indicates Indonesia's 1.4% contribution to global manufacturing products, marking a substantial ascent from its 16th position four years ago. Buoyed by hopes for global and national economic improvement, the Minister of Industry is optimistic about the manufacturing sector's performance in the Year of the Wood Dragon. He projects a growth rate of 4.81% for non-oil and gas processing industries in 2023 and sets a target of 5.80% for 2024. To achieve these objectives, the Ministry focuses on executing various priority programs in 2024. Initiatives include competency-based vocational education and training programs, restructuring machinery and equipment for small and medium-sized industries (IKM), and fostering new entrepreneurial ventures and technology-based startup development in IKM. Furthermore, efforts to enhance value addition and competitiveness involve the implementation of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification program, advancing downstream processing in three sectors: agro-based industries, mining and mineral-based industries, and oil and coal-based industries. The Minister also highlighted upcoming government assistance programs, encompassing the purchase of new two-wheeled KBLBB vehicles, industrial zone development, and facilitation for green industry certification.
