Governor Sugianto Sabran of Central Kalimantan is optimistic about the shrimp estate program's potential to unify sectors and boost the region's maritime and fisheries industry, aligning with the national target of two million tons of shrimp production by 2024. During a visit to Sungai Raja Village's shrimp estate in Sukamara Regency, the Governor emphasized Central Kalimantan's abundant natural resources. He highlighted the need for innovative initiatives directly benefiting locals, particularly the development of vannamei shrimp ponds, essential for economic growth. Sugianto stressed the estates' potential as an economic lever for Central Kalimantan's coastal regions. Spanning 40.17 hectares, this Governor-led priority project aims to establish sustainable and modern shrimp ponds.
Acknowledging the importance of holistic support, the Governor urged cooperation among the Central Government, local authorities, partner farms, financial institutions, educational bodies, and fisheries entrepreneurs for the project's success. Governor Sugianto envisions the shrimp estate as a perpetual revenue source, generating jobs, setting a sustainable shrimp cultivation model, becoming a key export commodity, and fostering sectoral growth in Central Kalimantan. Darliansjah, Head of the Central Kalimantan Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Agency, highlighted the uniqueness of Sungai Raja Village's shrimp estate, solely funded by the Regional Budget. The ongoing construction and testing of the Kalteng BERKAH Shrimp Estate precede the introduction of vannamei shrimp seeds. The management of this estate will involve community groups under a Regional Public Service Agency, ensuring efficient estate management. Successful implementation may pave the way for similar projects in collaboration with other coastal villages.
