Sukabumi's Woodcraft Penetrates International Markets: CV Karya Winazar's Success Story

Woodcraft produced by local artisans in Kampung Cijeruk, Sukamekar Village, Sukaraja District, Sukabumi Regency, has made a remarkable entry into the international market. The achievement is attributed to CV Karya Winazar, a company managing woodcraft production for the past 32 years, employing around 65 staff, both daily and permanent. Asep Mulyadi, the Manager of CV Karya Winazar, shared with Radar Sukabumi that the company, initiated by his parents, particularly his father Mr. Ahmad, has evolved into a second-generation enterprise. The company specializes in various kitchen woodcraft products such as cutting boards, mortars, spatulas, graters, and rolling pins. The raw materials predominantly comprise pine and mahogany wood. CV Karya Winazar has successfully marketed its products not only in local traditional markets in Sukabumi but also in modern markets and exports to Malaysia, Thailand, and Brunei. Despite this international success, the company aspires to expand further into the African and European markets, aiming to tap into these continents.

While a significant portion of CV Karya Winazar's products is sold domestically, they have established a presence beyond Java, reaching cities like Bandung, Jakarta, Tangerang, and Surabaya through collaborations with local distributors. The company competes with other woodcraft artisans in Indonesia, supplying its products to retail and wholesale stores, as well as modern markets like MR D.I.Y and super malls. Looking ahead, CV Karya Winazar plans to diversify into furniture products, currently emphasizing kitchen utensils and various household items. Asep Mulyadi highlights their commitment to using abundant local resources like pine and mahogany from Sukabumi, prioritizing natural product identity to meet customer demands. CV Karya Winazar boasts a substantial production capacity, capable of manufacturing up to 40,000 units per day for large orders. The pricing of their products varies based on market dimensions and quality, ranging from IDR 2,500 to IDR 50,000 per piece, depending on the type and design. Asep Mulyadi concludes by mentioning that the company achieves a stable monthly turnover of around IDR 400 million. The success story of CV Karya Winazar illustrates the potential of local craftsmanship to make a global impact, contributing to the growth and recognition of Indonesian products in international markets.
