Potential Turnover from Year-end Tourism Activities Reaches IDR 108 Trillion

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, reported that the Christmas and New Year holiday activities for tourists align with the government's expectations, leading to a potential economic circulation exceeding IDR 108 trillion. Sandiaga stated that this calculation was based on various factors, primarily a 70% average occupancy rate over the ten-day period. Referring to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Minister highlighted that approximately 15,500 hotel rooms were booked during the Christmas holiday, with an average rate of around IDR 1 million per night. This information contributes to the comprehensive estimation of the economic impact generated during this peak tourism season. While the achieved figure of IDR 108 trillion slightly falls short of the initial government target of IDR 120 trillion, the number of visits recorded during the Christmas and New Year period ranges from 107 million to 110 million tourists.

The positive outcome demonstrates the resilience and recovery of the tourism sector, indicating that the efforts to revive and stimulate the industry have been effective. The Minister emphasized the importance of such economic contributions from the tourism sector, especially amid global challenges. These encouraging figures signify the crucial role tourism plays in Indonesia's economic landscape, contributing significantly to the nation's GDP. As the tourism sector continues to rebound, the government remains optimistic about achieving and surpassing set targets, fostering sustainable growth and resilience in the tourism and creative economy.
