Jakarnaval Supported to Boost Jakarta's Economy

The Chairman of Commission B of the Jakarta Provincial People's Representative Council (DPRD), Ismail, expressed support for the Jakarnaval event as an opportunity to boost the economy, specifically the revenue of DKI Jakarta during the New Year's celebration in 2024. Ismail highlighted the importance of enhancing the quality of activities and participant involvement in Jakarnaval, anticipating an economic upturn for DKI Jakarta. The event coincides with the year-end holiday period, urging the DKI Tourism and Creative Economy Agency to capitalize on this moment to stimulate the economy. He emphasized that this event has become a routine strategy for the Jakarta Provincial Government in preparing for the Christmas Eve of 2023 and New Year's Eve in 2024. Encouraging the tourism sector managed by the DKI Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Ismail urged the promotion of enticing offers and other appealing activities to attract more visitors to Jakarnaval. He commended the readiness of various tourism sectors in providing promotions under the coordination of DKI's Creative Economy and Tourism Agency.


The Jakarta Provincial Government has organized a series of activities to enliven the New Year's 2024 celebration along Sudirman-Thamrin and the National Monument (Monas) area, including Jakarnaval. The Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Andhika Permata, highlighted plans for Jakarnaval in the Monas and Thamrin areas, the "Malam Muda Mudi" event, and the New Year's celebration along Sudirman-Thamrin. Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Government implemented a motor vehicle-free policy (HBKB) on New Year's Eve, or car-free night, along Sudirman-Thamrin. The estimated budget for Jakarnaval 2022 alone amounted to IDR 5.4 billion, as indicated by the Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Andhika Permata. Moreover, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) projected a turnover of around IDR 80.25 trillion during the Christmas and New Year holidays of 2023-2024. Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia's Regional Autonomy Development, Sarman Simanjorang, estimated the potential turnover based on an assumed average of IDR 3 million per family, akin to the Eid al-Fitr holiday travel spending.
