Poland Aims to Become Indonesia's "Traditional Market"

Poland is committed to strengthening its ties with Indonesia, aiming to become Indonesia's "traditional market" within the next five years. Piotr Firlus, the Head of Politics and Economics at the Polish Embassy in Indonesia, expressed hopes for a significant boost in trade and investment relations between the two countries, particularly in exports and imports, aiming for substantial economic interaction. Their priority is to deepen a fair, dynamic, and mutually beneficial economic relationship with Indonesia, envisioning both countries as significant economic partners and traditional markets for economic cooperation. Trade data from Indonesia's Ministry of Trade showed a total trade value between Indonesia and Poland from January to September 2023 at USD 779.8 million, reflecting a 20.21% decrease compared to the same period in 2022, which stood at USD 977.4 million. Non-oil and gas exports dominated, accounting for USD 779.7 million, while the remainder constituted non-oil and gas imports.

Specifically, Indonesia's exports to Poland amounted to USD 618.3 million, with imports valued at approximately USD 161.5 million. The Poland Festival held in Indonesia in November aimed to introduce Polish products, focusing on economic, educational, and knowledge sectors, as highlighted by Jacek Kolomyjec, the Head of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency. This festival has evolved into the largest promotional event in Indonesia, aiming to bring Polish products to Indonesian consumers, create business opportunities for Indonesian importers and retailers, and enhance Indonesia's awareness in Poland. Moreover, it aimed to encourage Polish entrepreneurs to invest in Indonesia.
