Implementation of Blue, Green, and Circular Economy in the Tourism Sector

During the "National Coordination Meeting for Accelerating the Development of the Five Super Priority Destinations (DPSP) in Semester II - 2023," Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, presented the implementation of blue, green, and circular economy principles in the tourism and creative economy sectors. Held at the Golo Mori Convention Center on Wednesday (6/12/2023), the meeting discussed the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) to incorporate blue, green, and circular economy principles into the tourism sector. According to Angela, these strategies aim to differentiate Indonesia as a tourist destination globally. The principles of blue, green, and circular economy offer significant potential and advantages for sustainable global economic development, including the creation of millions of new jobs and economic growth. Angela outlined the acceleration steps taken by Kemenparekraf, such as developing the National Indonesian Work Competence Standards (SKKNI) document, which includes elements of sustainable tourism, Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Environmentally Sustainable (CHSE/K3) practices, and inclusivity. The goal is to establish these as standards for the tourism sector in Indonesia.

Additionally, Kemenparekraf has organized training sessions, capacity building for tourism and creative economy human resources, campaigns promoting BGCE principles in tourism events with renewable and sustainable themes, collaboration among stakeholders, and appreciation programs like the Green Hotel Award and ADWI in the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability category. Angela emphasized the importance of increasing inclusivity in tourism through the development of creative entrepreneurship in tourist villages. She highlighted the progress of registered tourist villages in the Five Super Priority Destinations (DPSP), with awards for villages like Nglanggeran and Penglipuran as Best Tourism Villages. Collaborating with the University of Dr. Soetomo (Unitomo), Kemenparekraf launched the first Tourism Village School (Sepada) in Indonesia to enhance resources in tourist villages. Angela expressed hopes for producing graduates from tourist villages who can contribute to leadership roles. The meeting was attended by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Superior Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Interim Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Deputy Minister of Religion, and other participants.
