Foreign Investment in Batam Increased by 1.99% During Q3 of 2023

During the third quarter of 2023, foreign and domestic investment in Batam experienced a significant increase. According to the Ministry of Investment records, the realization of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Batam reached USD 160.16 million from 985 projects. This figure reflects a 1.99% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, 2022. Meanwhile, the realization of domestic investment (DDI) reached IDR 2.49 trillion from 2,180 projects during Q3/2023. This surge is noteworthy compared to Q3/2022, which recorded only IDR 540 billion from 741 projects. Muhammad Rudi, the Head of BP Batam, acknowledged that the increase in investment value is crucial for economic growth and the improvement of the community's welfare.

As one of Indonesia's industrial areas, Batam's strategic location, coupled with streamlined licensing processes, is key to successfully attracting investors. Rudi expressed optimism about the economic growth that will accompany Batam's current progress, stating this on Wednesday (6/12/2023) at the BP Batam Building. Rudi emphasized that investment is essential for regional development and the economy. Furthermore, the presence of investors creates employment opportunities for Batam residents, especially for the growing younger generation. "BP Batam is also continually improving supporting facilities for the convenience of investors, such as expediting and preparing the development of roads, airports, and ports. This will also have a positive impact on future investment growth," he concluded.
