Golden Opportunity for SMEs in the Agribusiness Sector as Dhoho Kediri International Airport Prepares to Operate

The imminent operationalization of Dhoho Kediri International Airport presents numerous opportunities across various sectors in Kediri Regency. One particularly highlighted sector is agribusiness, as emphasized by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa during her visit to Dhoho Kediri International Airport. Governor Khofifah expressed the tremendous potential of the agribusiness sector on the slopes of Mount Wilis. Abundant produce such as coffee, cocoa, seedless avocados, and podang mangoes make the region rich in resources. Khofifah believes that these products, with their high market value, can significantly increase in price when transported to other regions. "The presence of the airport provides ample space for the development of SMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises)," stated Khofifah during her visit to the airport last Friday (1/12).  However, human resources are essential to support business growth. Therefore, Khofifah urged the local government to enhance the quality of the local workforce.

Khofifah explained that improving human resource quality could be achieved through various means, including regular training. "Come on, the local government must develop its residents so that they can thrive with the existence of the airport," Khofifah urged. Deputy Governor of East Java, Emil Elestianto Dardak, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the airport is a golden opportunity for the surrounding residents. Not only in the agribusiness sector but Emil also believes that the development of the tourism sector can be boosted with the presence of the airport. Therefore, Emil urged local authorities to continue developing outstanding tourism sectors. "The airport is just the beginning; the next steps depend on each region," emphasized Emil, as quoted by Radar Kediri (Jawa Pos Grup) on Thursday (7/12). Emil also mentioned that the development of tourism is not only the responsibility of the Kediri Regency Government but also neighboring areas, including Tulungagung, Trenggalek, Nganjuk, Blitar, and others. Emil is confident that even development across all regions will have a more significant impact, providing positive effects for the local population. "In the 13 cities and regencies around the airport, there are 10 million residents. This can be utilized with the presence of the airport," he emphasized.
