Maluku Province Prepares 20 Tons of Commodities for Export to Japan

The Maluku Provincial Government is gearing up to export 20 tons of marine and agricultural commodities to Narita, Japan, in support of accelerating economic growth in the region. In December, Maluku plans to utilize a 20-ton cargo capacity flight from Ambon to Narita, Japan. The cargo will include fresh tuna, crabs, octopus, and agricultural commodities to meet the 20-ton capacity. An additional ton is allocated as a complimentary gesture to relax Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) participants, as stated by Hadi Basalamah, the Chairman of the Governor's Team for Accelerating Development (TGPP) in Maluku. The success of this initiative requires collaboration and support from relevant stakeholders to ensure the preparation and shipment processes proceed smoothly. Hadi expressed hope for strong commitment from quarantine offices, customs, and fisheries to contribute to the development of Maluku. This endeavor aims to enable Maluku to sustain itself through exports, resulting in lower logistics costs and an improved distribution chain.

Beyond governmental efforts, all districts and cities in Maluku are expected to play a role with support from the Department of Industry and Trade and the Maritime and Fisheries Agency of Maluku Province. Additionally, the Maluku Provincial Government ensures that exports from the region can directly reach their destination countries without passing through secondary ports. Hadi highlighted the improvement in export connectivity, allowing direct exports without the need for a Goods Export Notification (PEB) outside Maluku. This means PEBs are opened in Maluku, eliminating the need for double handling. To enhance export connectivity, the government is actively expanding networks through both seaports and air routes. Currently, Maluku's commodity exports predominantly pass through major ports such as Tanjung Priok in Jakarta and Tanjung Perak in Surabaya, resulting in limited profits for the province. This strategic move aims to strengthen Maluku's position in the global market by streamlining export processes, reducing logistical costs, and ensuring a more direct and efficient export route. The collaboration of various stakeholders, including quarantine offices, customs, and fisheries, is crucial for the success of this initiative.
