In September, the production of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) surged by 7.5%, reaching 4,143 thousand tons compared to August's production of 3,855 thousand tons. Additionally, Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) production experienced a 7.6% increase, reaching 394 thousand tons from the previous month's 366 thousand tons. However, domestic consumption in September recorded a 2.9% decline, totaling 1,979 thousand tons compared to August's consumption of 2,037 thousand tons. The most significant decrease occurred in biodiesel consumption, dropping from 956 thousand tons in August to 924 thousand tons in September, followed by food consumption, decreasing from 898 thousand tons to 865 thousand tons. Oleochemical consumption increased to 190 thousand tons in September from 183 thousand tons in August. Notably, total exports in September witnessed a substantial 29.9% increase, totaling 2,693 thousand tons, compared to 2,073 thousand tons in August. The most remarkable surge was observed in the export of processed CPO, rising from 1,245 thousand tons in August to 1,968 thousand tons in September.
Exports of processed PKO also increased from 78 thousand tons in August to 130 thousand tons in September, while oleochemical exports decreased from 416 thousand tons in August to 333 thousand tons in September. The most significant decline in exports was to China, dropping from 920 thousand tons in August to 781 thousand tons in September. Similarly, exports to India decreased from 744 thousand tons in August to 352 thousand tons in September. With an initial stock of 3,238 thousand tons in September, production reaching 4,537 thousand tons, consumption at 1,979 thousand tons, and exports totaling 2,693 thousand tons, the final stock in September decreased to 3,103 thousand tons, down from the August closing stock of 3,238 thousand tons. This data reflects a notable shift in the palm oil market dynamics, with increased exports of processed products contributing to a reduced inventory at the end of September.
