Investment in Kota Batu Surpasses IDR 1.15 Trillion

The economic revival in Kota Batu is accompanied by robust growth in investment realisation, surpassing the figures for the entire year of 2022. As of the end of October 2023, the recorded investment realisation in Kota Batu has exceeded IDR 1.15 trillion, with a registered basic capital of IDR 5.1 trillion. Muji Dwi Leksono, the Head of the Department of Investment and Integrated Licensing (DPMPTSP) in Kota Batu, disclosed that the investment realisation until the end of October reached IDR 1.15 trillion from a basic capital of IDR 5.1 trillion. This reflects a notable increase compared to the previous year when the 2022 investment realisation was only IDR 703 billion with a basic capital of IDR 4.3 billion. Muji explained that the basic capital represents the annual accumulation, resulting in a year-on-year increase. The investment realisation, on the other hand, is the cumulative inflow based on investor reports. He predicted that the investment realisation in Kota Batu could reach around IDR 1.5 trillion by the end of 2023, anticipating increased reporting by investors towards the year-end.

Acknowledging the positive trend, Muji stated that the current investment realisation is significant, marking a considerable rise from IDR 703 billion to IDR 1.15 trillion. He emphasised that a portion of the investment comes from foreign investors, with sectors like tourism, housing, SMEs, and agriculture remaining the most attractive to investors. In efforts to boost the investment value in Kota Batu, various innovations have been introduced to facilitate investors. Initiatives include the Public Service Mall, Mobile Service Complaints and Single Submission Online Service for Batu Citizens, and Jagong Bareng, a collaboration with creative economy players, farmers groups, village-owned enterprises, and tourism awareness groups. Furthermore, Muji highlighted the importance of a supportive legal framework for investors, mentioning the approval of the Investment Permit Regulation (Perda Penanaman Modal) in 2022. This regulation serves as a legal umbrella to protect investors, ensuring a secure environment for their investments in the City of Apples. Additionally, efforts are underway to create an investment potential map for Kota Batu, facilitating the identification of clusters in each village. The goal is to provide investors with a visual representation of the potential in each village, promoting informed decision-making. Despite these plans, Muji emphasised the need for support and assistance for business groups in villages. Through these clusters, a map will be developed, allowing investors to assess the potential of a specific village on platforms like Google.
