The head of Jember, Hendy Siswanto, highlighted the significance of the Festival Bahari Jember Fishing Tourism 5, held at Pasir Putih Malikan Beach (Papuma), emphasizing its potential to advance the economy and the tourism sector in Jember, East Java. "Events like this can profoundly benefit Jember, affecting its economy, tourism, social, and cultural aspects," Hendy mentioned in a statement from Jember, East Java, on Monday, November 13, 2023. The Festival Bahari Jember Fishing Tourism 5, organized by the Jember Tourism Office in collaboration with the Sedulur Tiang Mancing Jember (STMJ) and the Papuma Beach management, took place on Sunday, November 12, 2023, offering a total prize of IDR 100 million. "I personally witnessed the fish caught by the winners of the Jember Fishing Tourism 5, setting a new record with a fish weighing 24 kilograms, compared to last year's 19-kilogram fish," he elaborated.
He expressed his hope for the Jember Fishing Tourism event to occur annually, showcasing Jember's coastal tourism potential, thus boosting the tourism and economy sectors. Meanwhile, the head of the Jember Tourism Office, Bambang Rudianto, mentioned that the Festival Bahari Jember Fishing Tourism 5 was not limited to participants within Jember but also included contestants from outside the city, totaling 98 teams, each comprised of 4 individuals. During the festival's conclusion, the Mayor of Jember, along with the Head of the PKK Empowerment Team, Kasih Fajarini, and the Secretary of the region, Hadi Sasmito, awarded prizes to the winners of the Jember Fishing Tourism 5 from Jember, where the top participant caught a fish weighing 24 kg. Towards the end of the event, Hendy released green sea turtles into the open sea at the coast of Papuma, aiming to ensure their sustainability and safeguard them from extinction. "This time, we had the opportunity to release green sea turtles into the ocean, and we urge all Jember residents, particularly those living near the southern coastal areas of Jember, to protect these turtles," he expressed."
