PT Taspen (Persero) has pledged to improve community welfare through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility program (TJSL), which includes supporting environmental development and its supportive elements. This commitment is being realised through the construction and organisation of the Ulos Village Tourism in the Pangururan District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province, one of the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) designated by the Government. Taspen is building toilet facilities and a food court in the Ulos Village area to enhance tourist comfort, supporting the growth of the local micro, small, and medium enterprises' economic ecosystem. Through the TJSL program, Taspen is devoted to supporting community economic empowerment, particularly activities that boost the economic wheel in Ulos Village. Good facilities are anticipated to help locals develop economically. This aligns with Minister Erick Thohir's directive for State-Owned Enterprises to contribute to boosting the community's economy.
Taspen is committed not only to constructing facilities but also to providing guidance and management training to the locals. This aims to increase their utility and value, catering to the growing enthusiasm of tourists visiting Ulos Village. The Ulos Village Tourism development is a flagship program under Taspen's TJSL unit, initiated since 2022, aiming to support community economic empowerment, aligned with one of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. Previously, Taspen conducted a similar program in Melati Wangi Village, Bandung Regency, where they built the Andal Taspen Collaboration House and Healthy Recreation Terrace. These facilities serve as joint innovation centres, designed as a café to promote and market Taspen's fostered SME products. Moreover, the Terrace includes health facilities equipped with specialised fitness equipment for the elderly, also catering to sports for youth and recreational activities for children. By providing sound economic opportunities, Taspen endeavours to empower the people of Ulos Village to enhance their creativity and provide a platform for economic empowerment."
