Vegetable Noodle and Egg Products from Sidoarjo Penetrating the Global Market

Indonesian culinary products have gained recognition on the global stage, with several domestically produced culinary items successfully entering international markets. Among these are vegetable noodles and eggs produced by CV Indigo Sejahtera, which is also a partner of Indonesia Eximbank. The owner of CV Indigo Sejahtera, expressed his surprise that a business initiated in 2018 in Sidoarjo, East Java, had managed to access the global market. When the business was first established, there was no initial focus on foreign markets. In the early days, the business were not oriented towards export; we just ran and grew the business. Only around mid-2021 did we start considering exporting. He mentioned that his interest in export markets is driven by significant potential and a more amicable business environment.

Locally, competing with other local businesses is typical; it involves high endorsements and the need for social media maintenance. However, when exporting, those factors are not necessary. The product doesn't need to be endorsed by Indonesian celebrities; it simply has to appeal to the international buyers. His efforts to expand into the global market have begun to yield results. Ageng's endeavours to export noodle and vegetable egg products have successfully reached markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The products exported are vegetable noodles and eggs. Jeddah represents existing and ongoing contracts. Singapore is where non-continuous contracts are located. He explained that by the end of this year alone, his company is expected to engage in export transactions with a value of USD 250,000. The total value of signed contracts until the end of 2023 will reach USD 250,000. Further contracts will occur from January 2024 until the end of the year. (The products) are meant to supply Hajj, Umrah, and stores in Jeddah. According to him, Indonesia Eximbank provided financial injections totaling IDR 1 billion, which were utilised for working capital, and Indonesia Eximbank also provided a range of training sessions, covering topics such as financial management, production, and packaging. The institution also offered him an opportunity to participate in TreadeXpo. TreadeXpo introduced new opportunities to meet with various buyers from different regions, including international buyers.
