The Suriname Tourism Festival 2023 exhibition was held in Paramaribo this week to celebrate World Tourism Day. Upon the invitation of the Surinamese government, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Paramaribo participated in the exhibition. KBRI Paramaribo utilized this opportunity for integrated promotion, encompassing arts, culture, and tourism promotion, while also showcasing Indonesian trade and products to the people of Suriname. The KBRI Paramaribo exhibition booth displayed various handicraft products featuring Batik motifs, which are beloved by the people of Suriname. The exhibited products also included health products from Sido Muncul, which are well-known in Suriname," said the KBRI in a press release on Friday (29/9/2023).
In addition to the exhibition activities, KBRI Paramaribo also promoted Indonesian language courses, Javanese language courses, Gamelan music classes, and traditional dance classes. KBRI also seized the opportunity of the exhibition crowd to attract participants for the INA-LAC Business Forum, Trade Expo Indonesia, Halal Expo Indonesia, and conducted a Citra Indonesia Survey involving exhibition visitors as respondents. Various cultural performances were showcased on the main stage, featuring dance performances, singing, and a fashion show. During this event, KBRI Paramaribo's art studio presented traditional Indonesian dances such as Wira Pertiwi, Pegon, and Yapong from Central Java, as well as exhibited traditional attire from Lampung, Sumatra. The exhibition was attended by various local vendors engaged in the tourism industry (meetings, incentives, conferences & exhibitions), transportation services, and other forms of entertainment. Besides Indonesia, representatives from foreign countries participating included Brazil, Venezuela, and Haiti.
