Indonesian products have once again taken the spotlight on the international stage. This time, Indonesian products have impressed visitors at The 20th China-ASEAN EXPO (CAEXPO) held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center (NICEC) in Nanning, China, with the potential for transactions amounting to IDR 106.45 billion. These potential transactions include direct sales amounting to IDR 1.69 billion and commercial contracts reaching IDR 104.77 billion. This transaction value proves that Indonesian products can compete amid the onslaught of other countries in the global market. It also signifies the recovery of global purchasing power after the Covid-19 pandemic. CAEXPO 2023 featured the participation of 1,953 companies from 46 countries.
During the exhibition, processed food became Indonesia's flagship product and took the top position in transaction earnings at CAEXPO 2023, with a value of IDR 96.10 billion, accounting for 90.28% of the total transactions. Other Indonesian products that attracted the attention of buyers included consumer goods amounting to IDR 8.95 million (8.41%), fashion and accessories totaling IDR 706.74 million (0.66%), furniture amounting to IDR 358.52 million (0.34%), and home decorations at IDR 333.30 million (0.31%). Indonesia's participation in CAEXPO 2023 aligns with the strategy to boost exports to China. To win in the non-oil and gas export market in China, one strategy is to enhance product differentiation. Currently, Indonesia's main exports to China primarily consist of mining products and palm oil (Crude Palm Oil/CPO). Therefore, the Indonesian Commodity Pavilion at CAEXPO this year showcased various potential products in four zones: food and beverages, fashion accessories and jewelry, furniture and home decoration, as well as consumer goods, spa, herbal, and beauty products. On the last day, September 19th, the Ministry of Trade also facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PT Azaki Food International and Guangxi Hefaxing Trading co. ltd. In this MOU, the Chinese company will import frozen tempeh, instant tempeh, and tempeh chips from Indonesia.
