Trade Surplus Makes Central Java the Economic Hub of Indonesia

The Acting Governor of Central Java, Nana Sudjana, has declared that his province is one of Indonesia's economic hubs. He emphasized that Central Java bears the responsibility of continuously increasing the export of commodities. So far in 2023, Central Java's trade balance recorded a surplus of USD 1,622.67 million. The development of non-oil and gas exports from Central Java in January-July 2023 amounted to USD 5,699.92 million, a decrease of 16.26% compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas imports amounted to USD 4,077.25 million, down 13.09% compared to 2022 for the same period. "Central Java's trade balance has a surplus of USD 1,622.67 million as  he stated during a coordination meeting on the improvement of human resources for officials and operators of the Agency for Issuing SKA (IPSKA) at Hotel Gumaya Semarang on Tuesday (26/9).

The main non-oil and gas export commodities of Central Java in the period of January-July 2023 include clothing and accessories, both knitted and non-knitted, footwear, wood and wooden products, furniture, lamps, and lighting equipment. Additionally, there are leather goods, machinery, and electrical equipment and their components, synthetic staple fibers, goods made from bird feathers, artificial flowers, and wigs. Also, animal or vegetable fats and oils. Currently, the main destinations for non-oil and gas exports from Central Java include the United States, Japan, China, Germany, South Korea, the Netherlands, India, Malaysia, Australia, and Taiwan.
