The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is dedicated to advancing the growth of new entrepreneurs in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector across Indonesia, with a particular focus on creating employment opportunities and bolstering the national economy. To realize this commitment, Kemenperin conducted a series of technical guidance activities for SME entrepreneurs in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, from September 22 to 25, 2023. An impressive turnout of 520 participants from Pontianak, Kubu Raya, Mempawah, and Landak actively engaged in 26 technical guidance sessions. These sessions aimed to equip participants with fundamental technical knowledge for crafting regionally viable products using locally sourced raw materials and instilled essential entrepreneurship skills.
This initiative resulted from a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Industry, Commission VII of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI), and local authorities, including the Departments of Cooperatives, Micro and Small Businesses of Pontianak, Kubu Raya Regency, Mempawah Regency, and Landak Regency. Reni Yanita, Director General of Small and Medium Industry and Miscellaneous Industry at Kemenperin, emphasized that these programs intend to enhance the competitiveness of SMEs, catering not only to established entrepreneurs but also to newcomers venturing into business. She expressed hope that this training and mentoring would lead to an expanded SME presence in West Kalimantan, eventually integrating these businesses into larger industry supply chains, thereby benefiting local employment and the overall economy. The collaborative effort between the Ministry of Industry, DPR RI, and local governments underscores the commitment to fostering new entrepreneurs in the SME sector, which is poised to contribute significantly to West Kalimantan's economic development.
