The realization of investments in Sidoarjo Regency during the second quarter of 2023 reached IDR 5.6 trillion, equivalent to 78.8% of the 2023 investment target of IDR 7.179 trillion. The high level of investment achievement in Sidoarjo in the second quarter makes the government optimistic about reaching or even surpassing the target. The Regent explained that the investment figure in Sidoarjo originated from Domestic Direct Investment (PMDN) amounting to IDR 4.8 trillion, accounting for 85%. Additionally, Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) contributed IDR 838 billion, making up 15% of the total. The highest investment realization was in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry sector, totaling IDR 1.177 trillion, or 20.8%. This was followed by the rubber and plastic industry sector, with a nominal value of IDR 867 billion, and the housing, industrial, and office area sector contributing IDR 624 billion.
The Head of the Investment and Integrated One-Stop Services Agency (DPMPTSP) in Sidoarjo, stated that the investment climate in Sidoarjo is on track and even exceeding expectations. One of the factors influencing the development of the investment climate in Sidoarjo is good governance, including some innovations that have been proposed to facilitate licensing and investment. DPMPTSP Sidoarjo focuses on four macro activities to boost the investment climate in the regency. First, they provide excellent services for potential investors in Sidoarjo. Second, they have a proactive approach, making it easier for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to obtain permits. This approach aligns with Government Regulation No. 7 of 2021 concerning taxation and the priority program of the Regent and Deputy Regent of Sidoarjo, which aims to create 100,000 new job opportunities. Third, they have innovations like a potential map and investment opportunity analysis. Fourth, they ensure that business actors submit their Investment Activity Reports (LKPM) on time.
