The Value of Jakarta's Exports Increases by 4.48% in Early Semester II/2023

The value of DKI Jakarta's exports has increased by 4.48%  or by USD 38.45 million on a month-to-month basis, reaching USD 896.67 million in July 2023. This growth is driven by demand for goods and services from various commodities. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of DKI Jakarta, as of Sunday (9/24/2023), this export value has shown growth compared to June 2023, which was recorded at USD 858.22 million. The increase in the export value of DKI Jakarta is attributed to the demand for vehicle commodities, which became the highest contributor among other commodities. The contribution from this commodity reached USD 229.85 million out of the total export value. Other commodity sectors that made significant contributions to DKI Jakarta's export value include precious metals and jewelry, reaching US$97.43 million, followed by commodities such as fish, crustaceans, and mollusks, which amounted to US$79.58 million.

Furthermore, machinery and mechanical equipment commodities and their parts contributed USD 68.48 million, animal fats and oils contributed USD49.61 million, electrical machinery and equipment and their parts accounted for USD 36.62 million, soap and cleaning preparations were at USD 31.15 million, various chemical products at USD 30.01 million, clothing and accessories (knitted) at USD 23.60 million, and artificial filaments at USD 23.35 million. Among the top ten export destination countries, these Indonesian commodities are mostly exported to China. Data from BPS DKI Jakarta shows that the highest export value share is to China at 15.18%. Exports to China increased by 17.91% on a month-to-month basis or equivalent to USD 136.07 million. Some of the commodities exported to China in July 2023 were artificial filaments and vegetable fats and oils. The highest increase in exports to another country occurred in Singapore, which increased by 30.18 percent or equivalent to USD 97.21 million. Meanwhile, the country with the smallest export value among these top ten export destinations is Taiwan, with exports amounting to USD 20.87 million.
