The Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province recorded that the production of rice in NTB reached 629,000 tons of dry-milled rice in the first quarter of 2023. This amount represents an increase of around 83,000 tons compared to the same period in 2022, which was only 546,000 tons of dry-milled rice. “Alhamdulillah, it has increased, which means there is an increase of around 13.19%," said the Head of the Department of Agriculture and Plantations (Distanbun) NTB, Fathul Gani when met at the NTB Regional Representative Council Office on Tuesday morning (9/5/2023).
Fathul Gani expressed his gratitude for the achievement. In the midst of hot weather conditions in several regions of Indonesia, rice production in NTB has actually increased. To maintain the circularity and productivity of rice, Fathul Gani has encouraged districts and cities to utilize agricultural land with good irrigation systems to continue planting rice. NTB has been designated as one of the national food barns by the central government. This is because NTB has the potential for agricultural resources, including both irrigated and non-irrigated land.
