Indonesia has the potential to increase exports by 10% in non-oil and gas sectors to the ASEAN region, with exports worth US$4.09 billion in March 2023. Industries such as electric vehicles (EVs) and the domestic digital ecosystem are viewed as potential drivers of export performance to ASEAN.
Deputy of Coordination for International Economic Cooperation of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Edi Prio Pambudi, said that Indonesia has to identify industries that have potential for higher growth. For example, by strengthening digital transformation for MSMEs, sales in this segment can grow rapidly. The government still has a significant job to do to make Indonesia the epicenter of ASEAN's economic growth, and growth should not solely depend on trade and investment among ASEAN member countries.
