The Simalungun Regency Labor Office (Disnaker) in North Sumatra targets to improve the competence of 400 job seekers (Pencaker) this year to reduce unemployment rates. Training will be conducted regularly throughout 2023, and Disnaker is coordinating with DPMPN to gather data on each Pencaker in Nagori.

Funding for the competence improvement program partly comes from the Balai Besar Pelatihan, Vokasi dan Produktivitas (BBPVP) Medan and the sending regions of the training participants. The training programs include entrepreneurial development such as baristas and makeup salons, provision of facilities and infrastructure, business permits, cooperation with the surrounding environment, and assistance in marketing through social media. The training will begin in June this year, and Disnaker hopes to not only produce job seekers for companies but also create self-employment opportunities for other communities.
