Indonesia has continued its trend of trade surplus in February 2023, with a surplus of USD 5.48 billion according to the Central Statistics Agency. This is an increase from January 2023 which was at USD 3.88 billion. The government is prioritizing the support of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to sustain this trend and boost national economic recovery. The Customs Office is also collaborating with various government agencies to provide training and assistance to MSMEs to improve their export capabilities.
The Customs Office is encouraging MSMEs to increase their export knowledge and capabilities. They are providing training sessions such as the Export School and online business matching events to help MSMEs expand their international market. For MSMEs to be successful in exports, they need to prepare their production capacity, product quality consistency, and packaging, as well as create online presentations in English to introduce their products. By facilitating this, the government aims to help MSMEs to grow and increase their contribution to the Indonesian economy.
