Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, said that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a significant role in boosting investment and exports in Indonesia in the virtual opening of the International MSME Day 2023 event on March 27th, 2023. MSMEs have contributed greatly to the growth of Indonesia's economy, especially in terms of employment, innovation, and export performance. He added that MSMEs are expected to continue to play a vital role in the country's economic development, with the government providing support.
The Minister emphasized that the government is committed to improving the business climate in Indonesia and is working to provide a conducive environment for MSMEs to thrive through several initiatives such as simplifying regulations, providing access to finance, and enhancing digital infrastructure. Government is working to create a level playing field for MSMEs to compete with larger businesses. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between MSMEs and larger enterprises, as well as with other countries, to improve competitiveness and increase exports.
The International MSME Day 2023 event was held to celebrate and recognize the contribution of MSMEs to the global economy. Stakeholders from various sectors, including government officials, business leaders, and representatives from international organizations, came to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing MSMEs and to share best practices.
