Tuna 'King' of Bali Fishery Exports

In 2022, the export value of tuna will reach IDR 1.2 T of the total fishery export value of IDR 1.9 T. The export value of Bali fishery products in 2022 is IDR 1.9 trillion, an increase compared to 2021 of IDR 1.8 trillion. The exports came from 9 fishery commodities, namely tuna, squid and snapper. Then grouper, sardines, marlin, sword and shrimp and lobster. Of the 9 commodities, tuna is the mainstay with the largest export value, namely 1.2 trillion in 2022, an increase from IDR 1.1 trillion in 2021. Head of Production, Processing and Marketing of Fisheries (P2HP) Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fisheries Province of Bali, I Putu Wiwa Wirawan delivered Tuesday (28/2). Tuna exported from Bali comes from fishermen's catches from several water areas in Indonesia. Among other things, the territorial waters of eastern Indonesia, such as the waters of Nusa Tenggara and its surroundings. Many fishing vessels, especially tuna, said Wiwa Wirawan departed from Benoa Harbor. Likewise, after returning home, many fishing boats unloaded fish at Benoa Harbor. Not only that, the shipment is also for export via the Port of Benoa. "That's why exports are recorded in Bali," explained Wiwa, this official from Bangli Regency. Although he said, many of these tuna were obtained from the waters off Bali. Wiwa Wirawan also explained that tuna is one of the three commodities whose export value has grown positively from the nine fishery commodities. Apart from tuna, the export value that has also increased is snapper and swordfish exports. While six other fishery export commodities experienced a decline in export value. Wiwa Wirawan continued that overall the export volume of Bali fishery products in 2022 will decrease compared to the export volume in 2021. In 2021 the export volume will be 908,428 heads and 23,129 tons. Whereas in 2022, 815.58 heads and 22,659 tonnes. However, the value of exports has increased from IDR 1.8 trillion in 2022 to IDR 1.9 trillion in 2022.

"Raw materials have decreased, prices have increased," explained Wiwa Wirawan. Covid-19 is estimated by Wiwa Wirawan to contribute to the decline in the export volume of Bali fishery products in 2022. Communities in destination countries will certainly prioritize more urgent needs, compared to importing fishery products. . It should be noted that the destination countries and leading export fisheries for Bali are tuna, which are mostly exported to the United States, Thailand and Australia. Meanwhile for snapper, export destination countries are Australia, USA and Taiwan. Sardines to Congo, Timor Leste and Ghana. Then the lobster is exported to Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore.
