Maintaining Food Availability, Ministry of Agriculture Strengthens Escort at National Production Centers

The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) continues to strive to maintain the stability of national food availability. Through the Inspectorate General, the Ministry of Agriculture continues to improve supervision in a number of national production centers.

"Guarding the agricultural program is very strategic, considering that the agricultural sector has proven to be able to support the national economy during the last Covid-19 pandemic. Even the agricultural sector was able to grow positively amidst the sluggish national economy due to the pandemic.”

This was conveyed by the Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture Jan S Maringka at the Supervision Coordination Meeting (Rakorwas) for the Central Java Province Food Security Sector which was held at the Gradhika Bakti Praja Building, Semarang, on Thursday (23/2/2023).

The Ministry of Agriculture, called Jan, has committed to paying special attention to areas that are centers of national production, including Central Java. Adequate supervision needs to be carried out so that national food availability is maintained.

"Especially considering that this area (Central Java. red) is one of the national and provincial food storages with a fairly high value of agricultural export commodities," he said.

Jan also said that currently his party is also paying attention to the problem of conversion of agricultural land. Agricultural land from year to year continues to decline so that it becomes a challenge in itself to achieve national food security.

"The Minister of Agriculture (Syahrul Yasin Limpo.red) assigned the Inspectorate General to form a task force to supervise and control the functions of sustainable agricultural land. It is hoped that the task force will be able to control the conversion of agricultural land, which has a significant rate every year," explained Jan.

The Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Agriculture held a Rakorwas to strengthen the supervision of agricultural development. Collaboration and good synergy between the Ministry of Agriculture, especially the intergovernmental oversight apparatus (APIP) with the regional government and elements of law enforcement officials (APH) in the regions are expected to be effective in supporting the success of agricultural development.

"This Rakorwas is also being held to build synergy between the intergovernmental oversight apparatus (APIP) and law enforcement officials (APH) in carrying out internal government supervision, as well as realizing the food security program," explained Jan Maringka.

On the same occasion, Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen who represented the Governor hoped that the Rakorwas activities would be able to generate various understandings between the provincial government, the Ministry of Agriculture, APIP, and APH so that in the future various problems in the agricultural sector and food security could be properly resolved.

Furthermore, he revealed that the synergy and collaboration of APIP and APH will be able to realize better food security and build advanced, independent and modern agriculture in Central Java.

"Let us together support national food security in facing the threat of a global food crisis. This is our collective responsibility," he explained.

In addition to being attended by the Deputy Governor of Central Java, the Central Java Coordinating Meeting for Food Watch the Kajati and the Head of Central Java BPKP representatives, representatives of the Regional Police and Police, Kajari throughout Central Java, Officials from Central Java Provincial Agriculture Agencies, and heads of agencies in charge of agriculture throughout Central Java.
