Crab Cakes made it into the export market. This product was sent to America in the amount of 68 kg with an economic value of IDR 20 million. Head of Belawan Agricultural Quarantine Lenny Harahap, Monday (27/2/2023). Lenny explained, crab cakes are a unique and new commodity for the export market. This commodity is made from marine products and mixed with egg which functions as an adhesive. Meanwhile, the eggs used are eggs of good quality, and the cleanliness of the manufacturing process is guaranteed. "Before being exported, Crab Cakes have been tested in the laboratory and have met the export requirements of the destination country. They have been shaped into flat balls according to the request," he said. The Belawan Agricultural Quarantine Center also facilitates this commodity in the form of quarantine measures. This is to ensure the fulfillment of the technical requirements of the destination country in the form of a Quarantine Export Certificate or Health Certificate for processed Crab Cakes commodities.

"With this new export commodity, of course we hope that it will not only be exported for now but there will be continuity in the future. And not only exports to the United States but to other developed countries," he said. Meanwhile, Lenny also said that this export facility was to advance export activity, especially agriculture in North Sumatra. "The Belawan Agricultural Quarantine continues to make efforts to facilitate easy export services for business actors so that agricultural commodities in the North Sumatra region can meet the standard requirements set to ensure the health of our agricultural products free from animal and plant pests," he concluded.
