Ambassador Mayerfas addressed an assembly of Professors, Faculty members, students, and the invited guests on Wednesday, 22 February 2023, in the historic Senate Hall of Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (RUG), one of the Netherlands' Top Universities, on the occasion of the first Ambassador Talk.
Along with the other representatives from ASEAN The Hague Committee (ACTH) member Embassies, Ambassador Mayerfas as the main speaker delivered a discourse on Indonesia's Diplomacy in challenging time and its role as a bridge builder and part of solution on regional (ASEAN) as well as global platforms.
He underscored the importance of optimism, sense of solidarity, and cooperation among countries, people, and all stakeholders. In this context, he applauded the strong and productive ongoing collaboration between the Netherlands' academic and research institutions like RUG with those in Indonesia.
More than 30 Indonesian students, including some PhDs, and diaspora in Groningen welcomed the Ambassador and joined the discussion in the Senate Hall. While commending their various initiatives and activities in the framework of Indonesian students Association (PPI), the Ambassador also prompted them with the fact that Indonesia expected them to gain as much knowledge and experience to prepare themselves to be the future leaders and give back to the society.
