Fishery Production in Bandung Regency Continues to Increase

Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna said the need for animal-based food in Bandung Regency continues to increase, in line with the increase in population. So that the increase in aquaculture is very important in fulfilling food security and nutrition for the community in Bandung Regency. He said, fishery production in Bandung Regency continues to experience a significant increase. Every year fishery production, especially in 2022 will be 15,896 tons, an increase of 3.17 percent from 2021 with the commodities of tilapia, catfish and carp. "explained the Regent of Bandung at the UPTD Fish Seed Center Jalan Raya Ciparay-Pacet Cikoneng Village, Ciparay District, Bandung Regency, Saturday (18/2/23).


Furthermore, Regent Dadang Supriatna explained that cultivator groups in Bandung Regency currently consist of 423 groups spread across 31 sub-districts with a total of 7,632 Fishery Households (RTP). "This potential is an opportunity as well as a challenge that we must overcome through hard work and the right policy directions," he said.
On that occasion, a number of fisheries business actors attended the workshop with the Bandung Regent. The Regent was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Bandung Regency TP PKK who is also the Mother of Fish Consumption (Forum for Increasing Fish Consumption) Bandung Regency Hj. Emma Dety Dadang Supriatna.


Regent Dadang Supriatna also took the time to sample a number of culinary products made from fish.Apart from that, he also socialized the fish-eating campaign to the public to increase intelligence and physical health, in addition to reducing stunting rates in Bandung Regency.
In order to maintain sustainable aquaculture, Dadang Supriatna invites entrepreneurs and fish cultivators to continue to innovate by utilizing effective and efficient technology, highly competitive and sustainable.
According to him, sustainable aquaculture is a must. To support this, Dadang also invited them to optimize unproductive lands in the Bandung Regency area. "By paying attention to the carrying capacity of the environment. We will support this step by providing superior fish broodstock and quality fish seeds," said Kang DS, his nickname.


He suggested that fisheries business actors and the community continue to improve the fisheries sector as a more attractive business field to be used as a profitable source of income by implementing more innovative technologies.
"Before, I went with the village heads to Yogyakarta to see a tourist village. Previously, the village was slum. After we saw that the village was able to optimize existing land or ditches which in the end had income for the people," said Kang DS.
He hopes that the village heads, from 7,632 RTP can increase 100 percent in 2023.
"That's why, I asked the village heads, the sub-district heads to be able to oversee coordination with the Head of the Food and Fisheries Service. For example, when you need superior seeds and incidentally at the Ciparay Fish Seed Center there are many superior commodities or types of fish. food and ornamental fish," he said.


The Regent targets that in 2023 it will open 35,000 new business fields. He will also support the needs of the budget, especially for the needs of aquaculture. Kang DS also hopes that the 423 groups and 7,632 RTP will increase even more in 2023.
"From the 7,632 RTPs there can be up to 15,000 new entrepreneurs in Bandung Regency, especially in the fisheries sector," he said.He said there were two offtakers who were ready to accommodate aquaculture products.
"Currently we will also export fisheries to Japan. This is a form of effort from the Kadis for Food and Fisheries Security. Not only needs at the local, regional, national level, but it has penetrated Japan," he said.
Kang DS also revealed to the public that there is no need to worry about capital for aquaculture. Because, it is supported by rolling out interest-free and unsecured revolving fund loans.
"So there is no reason why many residents of Bandung Regency are unemployed," he said.


According to him, through revolving loan funds without interest and guarantees, the Regent is trying to encourage people to use ponds for fish farming. With the hope of producing production and having income through fish farming.
"Through this workshop it is hoped that there will be innovations, apart from being able to form new entrepreneurs in Bandung Regency. With the hope that in 2023 it can create 35,000 new entrepreneurs, including fish cultivators," said Dadang Supriatna.
