KKP Opens Investment Door in Cenderawasih Bay Area

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) opens opportunities for anyone to develop the marine and fisheries sector in the Cenderawasih Bay area, Papua.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries demonstrated opportunities that could be optimized in Biak Numfor, Sarmi, Yapen Islands and Waropen Regencies through the Maritime and Fishery Business Investment Opportunity Promotion Forum.
"Investment opportunities in the marine and fisheries sector are wide open with the acceleration of the policy direction carried out by the MMAF," said Acting Director General for Strengthening Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP), Ishartini in a written statement, Friday (03/02/23).
Ishartini said the forum was deliberately held at the Sarinah Building, located in the center of Jakarta, to attract the interest of business people and potential investors.
He added that the investment performance of the marine and fisheries sector up to the 3rd Quarter of 2022 reached IDR 6.39 trillion. The main investment destination areas are East Java, DKI Jakarta, South Sulawesi and Central Java.
He hopes that the business actors and potential fishery investors attending will be able to seize the opportunities that exist in order to increase their business capacity as well as increase investment in Papua.
"We will hold it at Sarinah because it is in the heart of Jakarta. This forum is also a forum for business and investment meetings for stakeholders in order to attract investment and business expansion to the area," said Ishartini.
This forum, continued Ishartini, also supports the promotion of the Cenderawasih Bay Sail which will take place around November 2023.

Set up Policy
In the same place, the Regent of Biak Numfor, Herry Ario Naap, ensures the safety and comfort of investment in his area. Apart from preparations from a policy standpoint, he said the Biak Numfor Regional Government also has a number of supporting facilities that have been built by the central government such as fishing ports at the Integrated Maritime and Fisheries Center (SKPT), public ports, and airports.
So far, fishery commodities landed at Biak Numfor range from yellow fin tuna and various pelagic fish to crustaceans.
"We have simplified and accelerated the issuance of permits through one-stop integrated services and are ready to provide technical assistance," said Herry.
In the same vein, Deputy Regent of Waropen Yermias Bisai Lamek Maniagasi said that his area has business opportunities for mangrove crab cultivation. He ensured that his staff was ready to provide convenience for business actors who were interested in opening a business in his area.
"The opportunity is there, both from the availability of sufficient mud crab seeds and the ecosystem," he said.

Support Investment
Meanwhile Acting Regent Sarmi Markus O Mansnembra emphasized his commitment to supporting investment in the region. Some of the policies implemented by the local government include providing land, facilitating access to permits, and supporting local workers.
"We have prepared the convenience instrument, so we are opening opportunities for various parties to run businesses in Sarmi," he explained.
In the investment matching (one on one meeting), the Head of DPMPTSP Biak Numfor also reported that there were investors who were interested in investing in building an integrated frozen warehouse with a capacity of 2,000 tons in Biak.
For information, after the discussion and technical meeting, there was a demonstration of processing yellow fin tuna in the courtyard of the Sarinah Building. This activity was greeted enthusiastically by visitors to the BUMN building.
Previously, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that investment opportunities in the marine and fisheries sector were open to all parties, but business actors must comply with the guidelines set by the government, especially in terms of preserving the marine environment.
