Kediri Regent Hanindhito Himawan Pramana encouraged the development of superior agricultural products such as pineapple to coffee as one of the economic development strategies in Bumi Panjalu. Because, he said, the operation of Kediri's Dhoho Airport which is targeted for 2023 and supported by the construction of the toll road, the superior agricultural product is predicted to be a special gift for people who come to Kediri. "I hope that someday people will return from Kediri, that first we make sure to bring tofu and pineapple," said Dhito in a written statement, Sunday (2/10/2022). This hope was conveyed by Dhito when he was one of the speakers in a webinar held by the Department of Civil Infrastructure Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology Surabaya, Saturday (1/10). Dhito admitted that he is developing an agropolitan area which is divided into several sub-districts based on superior potential. First, in the sub-districts of Semen, Grogol, Banyakan, Tarokan and Mojo (SEGOBATAM), in these sub-districts there are mango podang, coffee, oranges, and cassava. However, the superior products are mango podang and coffee.
"Our coffee is being planted in Mount Wilis and God willing, we will export it in 2024. The existence of an airport will certainly facilitate this export process," he said. Then in the Districts of Pare, Plemahan, Papar and Purwoasri (PALEMPARI) there are superior products of rice and secondary crops. Meanwhile, in Pare, Kandangan, Puncu, Kepung (PAKANCUPUNG) sub-districts, the superior products are chilies, shallots, and vegetables. Dhito also explained that Kediri is the largest chili-producing region in East Java with a total production of 90 million tons a year. He continued that Ngancar, Wates, Plosoklaten, Kandat (NGAWASONDAT) sub-districts are producers of pineapple and papaya agricultural products. Pineapple from Kediri Regency with the sand kelud variety (PK-1) located in Mount Kelud, Ngancar District is said to be a superior pineapple and is known for its sweetest, delicious, and fresh taste. "This pineapple fiber can be used for the manufacture of aircraft raw materials and this is still being studied," he explained.
