Economic Boost, Batam-Bintan Bridge Project Ready to Work on This Year

MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) ensured that the Batam-Bintan (Babin) bridge project would be executed in the near future. Bamsoet, who visited the location with the Governor of Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad, last Thursday (17/3), is optimistic that the bridge connecting Bintan and Batam will improve the economy of the two regions. Bamsoet emphasized that the existence of the Batam-Bintan Bridge would certainly have a positive effect on the community and the economy of the Riau Islands Province in general. "For us, seeing the need for the Batam-Bintan Bridge is very important in connecting the economies of Bintan and Batam," said Bamsoet.

Meanwhile, Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad admitted that his party had received information through the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). The auction process for the construction of the Batam Bintan Bridge, he said, would be carried out in the next two months. "Yesterday, the information delivered directly by the Minister of Bappenas and the Minister of Public Works in Kalimantan, God willing, the auction will be held in two months. Maybe from the Batam Island side first, because it is from non-government," said Ansar. Ansar, who is also a former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Regent of Bintan for two terms, emphasized that the Riau Islands Provincial Government is currently focusing on finalizing the land acquisition documents that will be used for the construction of the Batam Bintan Bridge. "So far there have been no problems in the land acquisition process," said Ansar. Ansar also emphasized that there are many investors who are interested in investing in the construction of the Batam Bintan Bridge.
