Referring to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) at the end of October 2021, the total exports of Indonesian plantation products reached Rp.483.59 trillion, an increase of 51 percent from 2020. Some of the national commodities were contributed by Riau Province. Meanwhile, in terms of products, the gross domestic contribution of plantations in the third quarter of 2021 has reached Rp 320.13 trillion, an increase of 8.13 percent. This was conveyed by the Director of Processing and Marketing of Plantation Products, Directorate General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Dedi Junaedi virtually during the commemoration of the 64th National Plantation Day at the Riau Province level, Tuesday (14/12/2021).
Plantation commodities, said Dedi, cannot be separated from exports. Referring to BPS data for the January-October 2021 period, the plantation sector in the country is quite encouraging when compared to the same period in 2020. "Because until the end of October 2021, the total exports of plantation products have reached IDR 483.59 trillion, or an increase of 51 percent from 2020, " he explained. Interestingly, several commodities that have become national commodities, said Dedi, are mostly produced by Riau Province, namely palm oil, coconut, liberica coffee, sago and areca nut. "I support some of these strategic commodities in Riau in ranking 1," he added. On the other hand, the Governor of Riau (Gubri) Syamsuar feels very proud and hopes that some of the above commodities can be maintained and even further improved in the future. "Earlier, the results of plantation commodities were stated, compared to last year, Indonesia rose 51 percent, and Riau was also the largest contributor," explained Syamsuar. For this, he invites collaboration between the government, businessmen, communities, associations to maintain cohesiveness so that the plantation sector in Riau Province is expected to be much better. "Therefore, let's take care of this, hopefully with our togetherness between the community, entrepreneurs, associations, and the government, we can improve plantation commodities for the better in the future," hoped the Gubri.
