Indonesia will start building a green industrial park in North Kalimantan next month, having previously planned for this month. This area is one of Indonesia's efforts to create green energy products that can compete in the global market. This area is also expected to become a major economic power of the country in the future. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) even claimed that many investors were already lining up to be able to invest in the area which would later be supported by the new renewable energy (EBT) power plant.
"Those who have ordered this area have queued a lot because they know that this energy uses green energy," said Jokowi, Wednesday (10/13/2021). Jokowi views that green energy products that will be produced from green industrial areas will become Indonesia's economic strength in the future. "Because in the next 10 years, which is called the European Union, America doesn't want to pay for goods produced by industries that use coal, for example, they don't want to anymore. Everything is going that way," he explained.
Jokowi said Indonesia would be the first country to have a green industrial area. This area will be built on a land area of 20 hectares. "This energy will be drawn from the Kayan River from a green industrial area in North Kalimantan," he said.
