BUMN Minister Erick Thohir is committed to buying cattle farms in Belgium to anticipate beef import figures. On the other hand, he also invited foreign investors to join in opening cattle farms in Indonesia.
Erick Thohir then directed foreign investors who were interested in establishing cattle farms in Indonesia to directly contact the Minister of Investment / Head of BKPM, Bahlil Lahadalia.
"If investors want to open a cattle farm in Indonesia, we are welcome. Just talk to the Minister of Investment / Head of BKPM, they want to invest here, it is very open," he said at the BUMN Ministry Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/5/2021).
In fact, Erick admitted that he would be happy if these foreign investors would later be able to help cattle breeders in Indonesia to develop more technologically.
"Do you want to cooperate with BUMN or stand alone, or help cattle breeders, that would be even better," said Erick Thohir.

A similar expression had previously been made by PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (Persero) or RNI as the parent candidate for the BUMN food cluster, which opened up alternatives to invite foreign investors to set up livestock in Indonesia.
President Director of PT RNI Arief Prasetyo Adi said that the alternative is still being studied, whether investors have an interest in opening livestock in Indonesia.
"We also open alternatives if we open companies from outside to enter Indonesia as investors, whether majority or minority, 51:49 we can discuss," he said.
Arief said that his party is currently examining all the possibilities that exist. For example, PT Berdikari owns 6,000 ha of land in Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi, whether it can be cooperated or not.
"Then the technology is from foreign friends such as Belgium, or in the future there is Mexico, or there is Australia which is the closest. All of us open the possibility," he said.
