On 15 December 2022, the Embassy of Italy in Jakarta, in collaboration with the Italian Business Association in Indonesia (IBAI) and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) held a hybrid seminar: “Indonesia’s New Capital “Nusantara”: Potential Opportunities of Italian Business Actors in the implementation of a Green, Innovative, Sustainable Smart City” that took place at the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, Diponegoro Room (Jl. MH Thamrin, Jakarta Pusat) at 15.00 – 18.00 (WIB). The discussion involved the Representatives from the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), the Ministry of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Ibu Kota Negara (IKN), and Roma Expo 2030.

The event was warmly welcomed by the Ambassador of Italy in Indonesia, H.E. Benedetto Latteri that explained about the business opportunities for Italian companies in investing to IKN. The representative from Bappenas informed the master plan for IKN development and the economic system development through a tri-cities ecosystem strategy that connects Balikpapan, Nusantara, Samarinda, and all of East Kalimantan. Meanwhile, the representative from BKPM explained about the total of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) report from 2017 –2022 (Q2) and the list of investors’ countries. Furthermore, the representative from IKN explained about the investment opportunities and the development progress of IKN including infrastructure building, water dam, etc. Lastly, the representative from Roma Expo explained about Italy's contribution to IKN through cooperation between Roma-IKN.

We examined that this hybrid seminar has given us clarity about the information of the opportunities and development progress of IKN. The record of the meeting could be accessed here. We would like to thank the speakers:
