Indonesia Strengthens Strategic Partnership with South Africa through New High-Level Business Council

The Indonesian government reaffirmed its commitment to deepen economic and investment cooperation with South Africa by launching the Indonesia–South Africa High-Level Business Council (ISA–HLBC) in Johannesburg on November 21, 2025, as part of the Indonesia–Africa CEO Forum. Presided over by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto alongside Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the event highlights Indonesia’s push for stronger economic diplomacy in Africa.

Airlangga emphasized that the ISA–HLBC is a concrete step to reinforce a structured, sustainable, and value-adding economic partnership between both countries amid global supply chain shifts and rising trade tensions. The cooperation will focus on priority sectors such as energy transition, food security, infrastructure, digital transformation, and strategic industries. Through this council, Indonesia and South Africa aim to create new growth opportunities, strengthen private-public collaboration, and contribute to an inclusive, rule-based global economy.
