Investment in 54 Shrimp Farms in East Lombok Reaches More Than IDR 1 Trillion

Along the coast of East Lombok (Lotim) and Sambelia to Jerowaru, shrimp farms are lined up. Based on the Online Single Submission (OSS) data dashboard, the number has now reached 54 units. The investment value is estimated at more than IDR 1 trillion. Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Licensing Service (DPMPTSP) of East Lombok, Husnul Basri, explained to Suara NTB, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, that most of the shrimp farms have started operating. Some are still in the process of planning their investment. The amount of investment in shrimp farms is calculated based on the value per hectare of land. Where, the total land used for shrimp farms reaches 500-600 ha. The investment value per hectare of land is IDR 2 billion.

The investment value report can be seen from the Investment Activity Report (LKPM). However, not all companies that have invested have filled out the LKPM. All shrimp pond investors in East Lombok are said to be Domestic Investment (PMDN). The state provides opportunities for investment as widely as possible and is given easy licensing services. After the enactment of the Omnibus Law, this licensing aspect is indeed required to be made easier. Currently, local governments do not receive anything other than Building Permit (PBG) levies or formerly called Building Construction Permits (IMB). This PBG is now the authority of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Service. PBG itself is issued once in a lifetime, except for the addition of new buildings. Lastly, in 2021, regions were allowed to collect levies of IDR 1.5 million per hectare for shrimp ponds, which is no longer allowed. The benefits of shrimp pond investment received by East Lombok are not direct. But the benefits can be felt by the people of East Lombok who are workers. On average, one pond has 10-50 workers. It is believed that with the shrimp pond business activity there will definitely be an economic impact on the community.
