On 5 March 2025, Yogyakarta Customs facilitated the export of 41 cartons of sliced tobacco (TIS) of PT Taru Martani to Japan with a total export value of USD 7,912.77 or IDR 125 million. The 41 cartons of TIS contained 7,170 packs of PT Taru Martani's flagship brands, namely Violin, Virgin, and Royal Bourbon. The facilitation of tobacco exports is in the form of an excise-free facility for the export of TIS, pursuant to Article 8 of Law No. 39 of 2007 on Excise Tax, according to Yogyakarta Customs Consultation and Information Services Section Head Riri Riani. The objective of this initiative is to enhance Indonesian exports, particularly within the tobacco industry sector, given its strong potential to compete in the international market. The procedure for the export excise duty exemption includes the inspection of export products to ensure that they comply with the excise duty regulations and are accompanied by the necessary documentation. Following this, the products will be sealed and sent to the export loading port at Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang.
