KKP Build 7 Tools for Washing and Purifying People's Salt

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) through the Directorate General of Marine Space Management inaugurated 7 washing plants / washing and purifying equipment, one of which is in Brebes, Central Java. Reporting from the official website kkp.go.id, Thursday (31/12/2020), the washing plant assistance worth IDR 2.7 billion, which was inaugurated, was handed over directly by Plt. Director General of PRL TB Haeru Rahayu to the Mekar Sari Sejahtera Salt Cooperative as a recipient of assistance.

Plt. Director General of PRL TB Haeru Rahayu explained that the washing plant is a series of machines with places and equipment for washing and purifying salt, which consists of milling / crushing, washing, draining and drying, iodizing, and packaging."The raw material used is salt with SNI 4435: 2017 with levels of sodium chloride (NaCl) on the basis of dry weight of 85-94 percent and produces a minimum salt output according to SNI 3556: 2016 with a minimum sodium chloride (NaCl) content of 94 percent, "Said Haeru. TB Haeru Rahayu, who is familiarly called Tebe, said that the construction of the washing plant aims to improve the quality of the people's salt in order to meet the needs of the industry so that it can absorb the people's salt production and increase the selling price of salt, as well as build market access for salt based on the people's economy. "The salt washing machine with a production capacity of 20 tons / day is expected to fulfill the potential of the existing salt market so that the increased production of quality salt can improve the welfare of salt farmers in Brebes Regency," he said.

Tebe revealed that in 2020, KKP through the Community Salt Business Development Program (PUGaR) provided washing plant assistance in 7 locations, namely Karawang Regency, Indramayu Regency, Pati Regency, Brebes Regency, Sampang Regency, Gresik Regency and Pasuruan Regency.

"In accordance with the President's direction, PUGaR activities are also juxtaposed with the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program. Therefore, PUGaR activities are carried out in a labor-intensive manner, absorbing local workers to help the community's economy during the Covid-19 pandemic, "he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Regional Secretariat, Agustina Murbaningsih, said that President Joko Widodo is very concerned about the welfare of people engaged in the marine and fisheries sector. "Alhamdulillah, today the government has provided a stimulus in the form of a machine to improve the quality of the people's salt. Hopefully the people's salt can be absorbed by the industry, "said Agustina. Deputy Regent of Brebes, Narjo, on the same occasion thanked the KKP for giving attention to Brebes Regency with various marine and fishery programs, especially the PUGaR program in an effort to address the national salt problem. Moreover, in an effort to achieve national salt self-sufficiency. According to Narjo, this national program shows the government's commitment to open business fields and improve the welfare of the people's salt farmers. Meanwhile, representatives of the Mekar Sari Sejahtera Salt Cooperative, Nahjo, are convinced that the washing plant assistance will provide decent welfare for cooperative members.
