Ministry of Industry: Companies in Industrial Estates Do not Need to Prepare Environmental Permits

Director General of Resilience, Territory and International Industrial Access (KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry, Dody Widodo, said companies in Industrial Estates do not need to prepare environmental permits. This step is contained in Government Regulation Number 24 of 2018 concerning Electronically Integrated Business Licensing Services. "This regulation has implications for environmental permit provisions in industrial estates. Because, in Article 35, it states that environmental permits are not required for business locations located in industrial areas, "said Dody in a written statement, Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

Dody said, in exchange for environmental permits, business actors in industrial estates must compile in detail an Environmental Management Plan (RKL) and an Environmental Monitoring Plan (RPL). "The arrangement by the industrial company must obtain approval from the industrial estate manager," he said. Furthermore, industrial estate managers as holders of environmental permits play a role in monitoring the business activities of industrial companies. Meanwhile, industrial companies carry out environmental management and monitoring based on detailed RKL-RPLs, as well as detailed RKL-RPL implementation reports to area managers.

"As a follow-up to this regulation, we have issued Regulation of the Minister of Industry Number 1 of 2020 concerning the Compilation of Detailed RKL-RPL for Industrial Companies that are located or will be located in Industrial Estates," he said.

Permenperin 1/2020 aims to serve as a guideline for industrial companies that are already located or will be located in industrial estates, in particular to check and approve detailed RKL-RPLs and monitor the implementation of detailed RKL-RPLs.
