The government continues to bolster strategic infrastructure to drive economic growth and enhance public welfare by constructing and renovating markets and improving roads in various regions. Over the past six years, 62 public markets have been built and renovated across 21 provinces, including the Riau Islands (Kepri). Through the Inpres Jalan Daerah (IJD) project, initiated in 2023, the government allocated national funds for road improvements in industrial and production areas. In Kepri, this project includes constructing 76 kilometers of roads in six districts/cities. Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, during the inauguration of Pasar Encik Puan Perak and the Inpres Jalan Daerah (IJD) at Lorong Gambir Road, Tanjungpinang City, Kepri, emphasized that with Tanjungpinang City's maritime wealth, rehabilitating and constructing strategic infrastructure can optimize the existing economic potential. He provided three directives to support these efforts: maintaining market cleanliness and comfort for the long term, maximizing local economic potential by utilizing new market and road facilities, and developing trade digitalization to enhance efficiency and accessibility for the community.
Kepri Governor Ansar Ahmad appreciated the central government's attention to infrastructure development in Kepri, which significantly impacts public welfare. The implementation of the Inpres Jalan Daerah positively affects economic activities and impacts the achievement of road indicators, with well-maintained conditions in Kepri increasing from 80.62% in 2022 to 80.78% in 2023. Pasar Encik Puan Perak, formerly known as Tanjungpinang Market, underwent extensive rehabilitation after collapsing in 2022 and now accommodates 785 traders with funds amounting to IDR 79 billion. The IJD Kepri project also includes 14 road segments totaling 76 kilometers with a budget of IDR 532 billion. The Vice President, accompanied by several key officials, expressed hope that the New Tanjungpinang Market would become a globally competitive economic hub and that regional road development would improve connectivity and accessibility for the community. The project demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting regional economic progress and enhancing inter-regional connectivity.
