Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, has mentioned that President Joko Widodo is currently discussing the plan to implement the golden visa program. The golden visa program enables individuals to obtain residency or citizenship in another country simply by making investments. The Minister also stated that this is a new policy that will be launched swiftly to attract high-quality talents in the fields of digitalization, healthcare, research, and technology.

The golden visa program is expected to enhance investments and job opportunities. The Minister also believes that the program will attract foreign tourists to invest in Indonesia, including digital nomads and digital entrepreneurs. Furthermore, The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will promptly prepare the legal framework for this new policy and coordinate with the Ministry of Law and Human Right about the concern, such as visa policy and the supporting regulations.
