Indonesia Expands Gas Network in 2023, Here's the Location

PT Perusahaan Gas Negara TBK (PGAS) or PGN has started expanding the household gas network (jargas) in the Yogyakarta area.
It is known that this year PGN plans to build as many as 12,900 House Connections (SR) in Yogyakarta.

Currently, PGN is penetrating the market in the cities of Yogyakarta and Sleman, to be precise in the Gondokusuman and Depok sub-districts, to capture the interest of potential customers.
Meanwhile, PGN is targeting the construction of 5,900 SRs in Gondokusuman District, which are spread over four urban villages.
Meanwhile, in Depok District, Sleman Regency, PGN plans to build around 7,000 SRs. This number is more than the initial plan when the signing of the Jargas development cooperation was carried out between PGN Sales Operation Region III (SOR III) and the Sleman Regency Government in October 2022.
General Manager of PGN SOR III Edi Armawiria, said that PGN's sales team is currently intensively carrying out socialization of Jargas or GasKita products aimed at households and small businesses.
"We hope that many potential customers in Gondokusuman and Caturtunggal Districts are interested in switching to using natural gas from PGN," Edi said in his official statement Monday (30/1/2023).
Edi revealed that currently the Yogyakarta and Sleman areas have not been connected to natural gas transmission pipelines.

Therefore, PGN will supply natural gas in a non-pipeline scheme, namely through CNG or Compressed Natural Gas as the PGN Group's beyond pipeline mode.
He hopes that the CNG usage phase will become a bridging period towards distributing gas using pipelines. Meanwhile, the distribution through the CNG mode is a form of realization of PGN's commitment to bringing good energy to the Yogyakarta and Sleman regions.
Edi said that the massive expansion of natural gas services in Yogyakarta - Sleman was a challenge for PGN. This is because this area is a new area for PGN's operations.
"However, PGN continues to make its best efforts so that the people of Yogyakarta and Sleman can benefit from natural gas," he explained.

Furthermore, apart from households, PGN is also ready to serve customers in the MSME and commercial sectors. For business actors, the use of natural gas can save production costs at a more competitive price compared to fuel oil or gas canisters that are commonly used.
Simultaneously with the expansion in Yogyakarta, around 5,640 SRs will also be added to jargas in Semarang City, covering six urban villages spread across Central, West and East Semarang.
"PGN is pursuing the acceleration of household gas that is included in PGN's medium-term plan. We are also maintaining the best possible performance so that efforts to expand services and infrastructure can proceed according to the plans that have been laid out," concluded Edi.
