West Java Offers Projects Worth IDR 59.73 trillion, from Renewable Energy to Food Security

West Java offers various projects with an investment value of IDR 59.73 trillion. The project is offered to foreign and domestic investors at the West Java Investment Summit (WJIS) 2022 which will be held on October 5-6, 2022. Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia (BI) West Java Province, Bambang Pramono, said dozens of projects offered at WJIS 2022, include 17 renewable energy projects, 10 food security projects, and 5 government projects. The project is ready to be absorbed by investors. “We calculate that the investment value is around IDR 59.7 trillion from the projects offered. This figure is certainly beyond the multi-year progress that has been offered previously,” said Bambang Pramono at the Jabar Punya Informasi (Japri) event at Gedung Sate, Bandung, Monday (3/10/2022). He mentioned that one sector that currently has a large enough opportunity to be absorbed in the energy sector which focuses on new and renewable energy (EBT). For this energy project, the value is around IDR 25.6 trillion. These include the State Electricity Company (PLN) electrification project, charging for public electric vehicles in Cibitung, Cibuni, Citatih, Cikembang, Citarum, and Cilaku. Then there is the geothermal working area of Cisolok, Sukarame, the working area of Galunggung, and there is also the Cirata floating power plant at Garut Wind Farm.

He is optimistic that WJIS will attract investors. West Java itself has a market share of up to 50 million people and West Java’s infrastructure is already advanced. Moreover, the government also collaborates with stakeholders and is very open-minded in accepting input. Regarding which countries are most interested in investing in West Java, according to him, the actual interest or not depends on the promotion of investors. Therefore, West Java must be smart enough when promoting. “At least we, through our representative office, continue to have Bank Indonesia in Japan, London, United States, Singapore, and Beijing. We must continue to promote and we always invite several projects in West Java for sounding to investors,” he explained.

Head of the Energy and Mineral Resources Office of West Java Province, Permadi Mohammad, said the West Java Provincial Government offered 17 renewable energy projects to domestic and foreign investors at the WJIS 2022 event. “We have 17 investment projects, some are projects and some are products. It could also be a product,” he said. Permadi said the total investment value of the 17 new energy investment projects offered at WJIS 2022 reached IDR 25.6 trillion. The 17 investment projects include wind or wind power projects, geothermal power plants (PLTP), solar power plants (PLTS) to public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU). “There are indeed SPKLU. We also need investors. If we want to develop this electric vehicle, for example, people ask like eggs and chickens. The investor himself has a demand or not. So this is what we have to solve," he said.
